WHAT I BELIEVE & WHAT I DO

I believe in our ability to create whatever we want in our lives and sometimes people need help in doing that. I coach people in creating their best retirement, a new life journey, by examining where they are now with regard to factors for successful retirement and helping them develop a Personal Retirement Mission Statement and Plan to make the most of the coming years.

MY QUALIFICATIONS
RSP Trained Retirement Coach
I’ve spent 37 years helping people plan the future for their organizations, their businesses, and their retirements.  My first career was as a Community Development Planner with the City of Middletown, Conn.  Thirty-seven years ago I founded the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Hartford, Conn. and with AARP presented pre-retirement planning workshops for corporations.  I spent 10 years as Executive Director of two non-profit organizations in Connecticut creating new programs to serve the community, 10 years as a banker lending to businesses as well as teaching courses on planning and financiing new businesses, and 10 years as a financial advisor for American Express Financial Advisors helping people plan financially for retirement.  Personally, I have been successful in creating five careers for myself, retiring twice to create new ventures.

Along with the practical experience of creating new careers, my educational background includes a BA from Northeastern University in Political Science, a National Science Foundation Fellowship for graduate work in Policical Science & Public Administration with an MA from Northeastern University, and an MBA in Finance & Organizational Behavior from the University of Hartford, Hartford, Conn.  I am also a graduate of programs such as Technologies in Creating at MIT and the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, N.C.  As a volunteer, I have been a lobbyist in the Massachusetts legislature for a non-profit organization, a trustee of a private university, a candidate for public office, and board member of an organization developing affordable housing in the Hartford area.

Two years ago, I merged my financial planning and investment management practice with that of one of the top private wealth advisors in South Florida.  With a more flexible schedule and freed from day to day management of investments, I became certified as a Retirement Coach focusing on the non-financial aspects of retirement planning, referring financial planning and investment issues to associates.
